Unlike some other excimer lasers, the VISX STAR S4 IR™ does not require your pupil to be dilated before your procedure. For you, this means the surgeon can more accurately centre the treatment over your line of sight, and that you will suffer less from light sensitivity after your procedure.

 

Precision

The VISX Star S4 IR™ offers the first laser treatment with automated Iris Registration (IR), a non-contact method for aligning and registering your procedure. IR correctly centres and aligns the treatment, independently of pupil migration while compensating for eye movement, providing a more precise placement on the corneal site.

VSS™ Refractive and VRR™ Technologies

The STAR S4 IR™ Excimer Laser System exclusively features VSS Refractive™ technology (Variable Spot Scanning) and VRR™ (Variable Repetition Rate) pulse-packing algorithm. The VSS Refractive™ technology produces variable beam sizes from as small as 0.65 mm up to 6.5 mm, while VRR™ varies the laser's repetition rate from 6 Hz to 20 Hz.

By continually changing the size and placement of the laser beam, the STAR S4 IR™ Excimer Laser rapidly delivers the precise ablation pattern required, significantly reducing ablation time, while minimizing thermal effects on the cornea.

ActiveTrak™ 3-D Active Eye Tracking

ActiveTrak™ 3-D Active Eye Tracking with automatic centring is the first tracker in the industry to track eye movements along the X, Y and Z axes.

This means that not only side-to-side and backwards and forwards movements of your head is accommodated, but up and down movements of your head are also monitored. These features facilitate the accurate performance of the laser procedure.
