The Victorian coalition has pledged $2.5 million towards an existing initiative to improve eye health.
The Vision Initiative is the Victorian government's public health response to a national plan to promote eye health.

The coalition has promised to fund the initiative in full if it wins this weekend's state election and provide $2.55 million up to 2014, once the current funding expires.
The investment would help raise awareness about eye health, target older Victorians, and develop health education programs.
Opposition health spokesman David Davis said improving eyesight could prevent trips and falls, which are particularly harmful for older Victorians.
"The impact and cost of this phenomenon on the Victorian community will be enormous," Mr Davis said.
"Total direct and indirect costs in Australia in 2009 were estimated at $16.6 billion with $4.2 billion, approximately one quarter of these costs, attributed to Victoria."
