Luke Jephcott, manager at Ballarat Budget Eyewear, believes children aren’t telling anyone about their eye problems because they have no basis for comparison.
“Some kids just don’t understand that they have poor vision because they don’t know what is normal,” he said. “Then there’s others that are scared to admit there’s a problem.”
Infants as young as three months can require glasses and Mr Jephcott has noticed more and more children who need glasses early on in life.
“Parents need to understand that their children may not tell them they are struggling to see, so it’s a good idea to get their eye health checked even if there is nothing seemingly wrong,” said Mr Jephcott.
