The Central Coast Ophthalmological Society Annual Meeting

On October 12, 2010 The Central Coast Ophthalmological Society (COS) held it’s inaugural annual meeting in the beautiful beach suburb of Terrigal on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

Dr Con Moshegov was invited to be the first speaker at the meeting and was asked to present his experience with the AcrySof ReSTOR multifocal intraocular lens.

Dr Moshegov described it’s use in cataract patients and those patients in their 50’s and 60’s who desire to be spectacle independent.
He outlined the selection criteria for the lens as well as the characteristics of patients who do not have optimal visual results concluding that patient selection is still critical.

Dr Moshegov explained how the lens, used correctly, can be a wonderful tool in eye surgery in people who need glasses for both distance vision as well as reading. He also addressed the concerns some ophthalmologists have had with regard to the lens.

The Central Coast region is hoping to expand into the specialty of refractive surgery and welcomed Dr Moshegov’s experience in the area of Laser Eye Surgery and cataract surgery with emphasis on reducing spectacle dependence.
